WRECK OF THE PERTH.

STRUCK BY LARGE ROLLERS. NOBODY TO BLAME? By Telegraph—Press Association. Greymouth, Last Night. An enquiry into the stranding of the steamer Perth was held to-day before Mr. Meldrum, S.M., and Captains Tburleway and Schutze. The Perth’s master, Captain Macdonald, attributed the mishap to three successive large rollers striking the steamer on the bar. He thought all ships drawing over 164 feet should have the assistance of a tug. The ship’s officers and the harbormaster corroborated Captain Macdonald. The Court found a verdict in accordance witb the evidence —that the cause of the stranding was three successive and unusually large rollers, nobody being blameworthy. The captain’s certificate was returned. The agent announced,, that the owners of the Perth have abandoned her to the underwriters.
