BREACH OF AN AWARD. By Telegraph. —Pre«<« Association Gisborne, Last Night. At the Magistrate’s Court to-day Giovanni Vita and Gennara Maisieano, tea rooms proprietors, were charged with a breach of the hotel and restaurant employees’ award. They were further charged with making wilfully false statements in their wages books. The labor inspector (Mr. Whiting) said the defendants informed six waitresses that unless all agreed to accept 32s 6d two would be discharged. After 32s Gd had been accepted, the defendants continued to enter 37s 6d in the wages book. Defendants pleaded guilty. Their counsel said business was falling off, and if hands were dismissed it meant unemployment. The magistrate (Mr. Barton) refused to accept the plea. On the first charge defendants were fined £9, and on the second charge £3O.
