CORRESPONDENCE.
PROPOSED MOKAU ELECTRIC POWER SUPPLY. (To the Editor.) Sir, —I could not be other than interested in this latest development. It will solve at least, the uncertainty that has all along existed as to whether the operations in these coal' fields were being conducted so as to give the public (whom. I claim, are the rightful owners of this commodity) the benefit they should naturally expect, in one or two instances. Money has been made by previous operations, which, however, proved abortive and of no use to the public generally, who have of later years had to pay prohibitive prices for full supplies from outside. I can see in this the end of at least one acute proposition, and, what is of greater importance. with the ushering in of the larger scheme all will benefit alike, the humble tw-)-roomed cottage dweller equally with the oecu* pier of the modern residence. This is as it should be, and my personal thanks go out, to those who have ennde this possible.—l am, etc., ONE INTERESTED IN TARANAKI’S WELFARE.
