FOOTBALL.
LEAGUE TEAM’S TOUR. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Nov. 13, 5.5 p.m. London, Nov. 12. At league football Australasia (four tries and two goals) defeated Rochdale (one goel) It was a rough game. There were twelve penalties on each side. Three players were ordered P o3 ® £bi P tics o£ Playing football by electric light for the sumuner nights is bei’ig I discussed in Adelaide, it is urged that the t recent close of the season has left a •'ap ; which no other sport can bridge till next Winter’s seasun opens. It i 3 advocated that cricket, the principal summer pastime, fails ; o draw. Admission to club games is free, for when a charge was made the gate money received did not pay the gatekeepers. The ordinary club matches when football is the game draw crowds of 20,000 easily, and vie: 1 gates of £5OO repeatedly. In fact, most * club r-otbn games on the Adelaide Oval draw -argcr crowds than Inter-State cricket contests, and the record was 45,000, while less , than 35,000 was the record gate for a cricket 1 match on the Saturday of th e third test in i Adelaide last summer. It is contended that ! football on summer nights would not be tir- i mg, as getting rid of the ball at once with 1 good kicking would, save fatigue from running ; ana excessive training would be unnecessary 1 It is a common sight on the beaches to sec ' parties of footballers playing in their barb- ■ Ing suits. There is already talk of a team ! being formed among the workers of the Government workshops.
