OBITUARY.

MR. WILLIAM PvUNDLE, The death occurred at New Plymouth on Thursday night of Mr. William Run* die, aged 92 years. The late Mr. Rundle was one of Taranaki’s earlier settlers. coming out with bis parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Rundle, in the Amelia Thompson, which arrived here on September 3, 1-841. He went through all the Maori troubles and later was associated with his father in the erection of most of the bridges between New Plymouth and Waitara. He then joined the partnership and Mr. Geo. Bassett, and assisted with the contract they had to build the Patea bridge. They also built the Wanganui railway bridge, the deceased being one of the principal carpenters. The late Mr. Rundle also assisted his brothel’, Mr. Sam Rundle, in erecting the bridge over the Waitara River at Tardta. For the past 40 years he had been living in semiretirement in Hine Street. He was one of the oldest members of the New Plymouth Bowling Club, and his familiar figure will be very much missed from the oreen. Last year he was made a life member of the club, while o n the occasion of the 90th anniversary of his birthday he was the guest of members and the recipient of a presentation at their hands. The. late Mr. Rundle never married. He leaves two brothers, Mr. Sam Rundle and Mr. C. T. Rundle. The funeral takes place at Te Henui tomorrow afternoon at 1.30.
