BOROUGH COUNCIL NOTICES. BOROUGH OF NEW PLYMOUTH. RESULT OF POLL TO RAISE A LOAN. pURSUANT to Section 12 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913,” I hereby give notice that a Poll of the Ratepayers of the Borough of New Plymouth was taken on the Second Day of November, 1921, upon a proposal to raise a Special Loan of nine thousand Pounds ( £9000) for the following purposes. The particular purposes for which the loan is required are:— (a) To provide additions and extensions to the Council’s Electric Lighting and Power Works, including the enlargement of the tunnel (known as No. 2 tunnel) now being constructed or made in connection with such works, the ascertainment by survey, inspection or otherwise of what further water (if any) is available for use by the said Council in connection with such works, or any addition to or extension or development of such works, and upon what terms and conditions as to price and otherwise, the payment of compeneaition to persons injuriously affected, and for any other purposes incidental or in relation to the above mentioned purposes. (b) The sum proposed to be borrowed for all such purposes is £9OOO at at a rate of interest not exceeding £5 10s per centum per annum with a sinking fund of one and one-half per cenitum additional. (c) The proposed security for the said loan of £9OOO and the interest and sinking fund -thereon is an annually recurring special rate of one-fifth of a penny (l-sd) in the pound on the rateable value of all rateable property in the said Borough, and it is proposed to repay the said loan on Ist day of April, 1933. It is proposed to pay out of the said loan the cost of raising the eaid loan, but not the interefft and sinking fund thereon for the first year. The number of valid votes recorded FOR the proposal was 497 The number of valid votes recorded AGAINST the proposal was 207 The TOTAL number of valid votes recorded was 704 I therefore declare the said proposal CARRIED. The particular purposes for which the loan is required are:— (a) £lO.OOO for providing additions and extensions to the Borough “Waterworks” as defined by section 238 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1920,” for purchasing, taking or otherwise acquiring necessary land, buildings, machinery, plant and material therefor, for payment of compensation to persona injuriously affected thereby, and for any other purposes incidental or in relation to any of the i above mentioned purposes. (b) The sum to be borrowed for all such purposes is £lO,OOO. (c) The proposed security for the said loan of £lO,OOO and the instalments thereon is an annually recurring special rate of one-seventh of a penny (l-7d) in the pound on the rateable value of all rateable property in Ithe said Borough ! of New Plymouth, and provision | is made for repayment by means j of half-yearly instalments in 36»j years under section 68 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans’ Act, 1913.” • (d) It is proposed to pay out of the said Loan the coat of raising the caid loan and the instalments in respect of interest and principa l thereon for the first year. The number of valid votes recorded FOR the proposal was 592 The number of valid votes recorded AGAINST the propose 1 was 114 The TOTAL number of valid votes recorded was 706 I therefore declare the eaid proposal carried.
