ALLEGED SHOOTING OF SOLDIERS. AGAINST AMERICAN OFFICERS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Washington, Nov. 1. The Senate has appointed a committee to investigate the sensational charges by Senator Watson that American soldiers in France were hanged without court-martial, shot by officers, and inhumanely ti'eated in many ways. Senator Watson said he had photographs of gallows on which 21 soldiers were executed. He offered to produce watnesses if they were guaranteed an indemnity. Senator Borah produced photographs showing several soldiers hanging from the scaffold. .Senator Watson declared that privates were frequently shot by officers because of complaints against the latter’s insolence. Others were hanged without trial of any sort.
