OVER MAORI’S JEWELS.

By Telegraph—Press Association.

Wellington, Last Night. Leave to withdraw the charges of ob* tataing jewellery valued at £4OO, by false .pretences, against Robert Munro and Roderick Munro, was granted at the Court this morning. A Maori princess gave the Munros some jewels for the purpose of raising money thereon. The Munros left New Zealand, and, after some time had elapsed, the complainant, thinking the jewels had been stolen, took proceedings. It had been discovered that the jewels had been left in Palmerston North, and that money had beer, raised on them, also that, as these facts not been stated to complainant by means of a letter, they laid accused open to suspicion, but as a matter of fact, four letters, wrongly addressed, had been sent.
