$ DECREASE IN NEW ZEALAND. By Telegraph.—Press Assodatfco. Wellington, Last Night! Replying to a question in . the House to-day, Mr. Massey said that so far as he could ascertain there were about two* hundred unemployed in Canterbury, and there was a vote of £2OOO to provide them with work in various parte of the province. Speaking of unemployment generally he said that on June 11 last there were 1449 registered unemployment in the Dominion. Since then there had been a steady decrease, until to-day the .figures were 1089. He anticipated that as ‘/the summer advanced and work on starbions increased, the unemployed would {gradually disappear. In the meantime the Government would do everything in tljeir power to provide employment those seeking work.
