NEW PLYMOUTH V. HAWERA. WIN FOR NEW PLYMOUTH. A match between the New Plymouth, and Hawera Clubs was played on the Waiwakaiho links yesterday. Four-ball matches were played in the morning. New Plymouth winning j four and Hawera one. The afternoon was de- ! voted to singles. New Plymouth winning eight ami Hawera one. I The weather was very unfavorable, and the ’ strong southerly wind which arose added still more to the discomfort of tl’e golfers. Owing to the weather conditions some of the Hawera players were unable to make the trip but, however, some local players were obtained to fill the gaps. Details of the play are. New Plymouth players being mentioned first: MORNING PLAY. Hasel! and Austin beat Fletcher and Salmon, 6 up and 4. Thomson and .loluison beat Gibson and Worsop, 3 up and' 2. Dailey and Burgess beat Suisted and Douglas, 6 up and 5. Hutchen and Lawrey lost to Ritchie and Dalgleish (sub.), 4 down, and 3. Elliott and Simpson beat Mackenzie and Kurui’angi, 3 up and 2.
AFTERNOON PLAY. Dailey beat Suisted, 7 up and 6. Burgess beat Douglas, 6 up and 5. Johnson peat Gibson, 2 up and 1. Austin beat. Salmon, 2 up and 1. Thomson beat Worsop, 3 up and 2. Hascll beat Fletelrer, 5 up and 4. Elliott beat Kururangi, 4 up and 2. -Simpson beat Mackenzie, 2 up. Hutchen lost to Ritchie, 4 down and 3.
TARANAKI V. WANGANUI. BAD WEATHER PREVENTS PLAY. Wanganui, Last. Night. Atrocious weather prevented the Taranaki and Wanganui golf match to-day. The fourbali match commenced in the morning, but the players were soon driven to shelter, while in the afternoon play was abandoned.
