SPANISH LEGION.

“UNBEARABLE CONDITIONS.” London, Oct. 11. Three British former service men who joined the Spanish Foreign Legion in. August have escaped from Morocco and> made their way to England. They complain of the unbearable conditions, and tell how the Englishmen struck until part of the promised enlistment money had been paid. They also complain of reduced pay. They state that the rifles issued were more dangerous to themselves than to the Moors, and humorously relate how the British members of the Foreign Legion astonished the Spanish troops, when, after drilling in the Spanish fashion, they gave an exhibition of British drill under th» command of a legionary who was a former captain. Disguised as Spanish sailors, the trio ultimately outwitted the sentries at Melilla on a dark night, and as stowaways travelled by boat- to Algiers.
