STRONG PLEA FOR EXOLtfSION. COMPETITION WITH WHITES. By Telegraph.—Preis Awn —Copyright. Received Oct. 23, 53 p.m. Washington, Oct. 22. The Californian Congressional delega-4 tion has presented the State Department} with a brief prepared by the Japanese Exclusion League urging the rigid ex*; elusion of Japanese immigration, on the theory that the peaceful penetration o£ that race constitutes a national menace** The brief states there is no claim or' belief as to racial inferiority; on the’ contrary, there is frank admission thati the white race may not hope to survive in this country if compelled to meet the Japanese competition. For economic advantage and racial existence it is urged that exclusion should be practised regardless of the rights and! privileges Japan accords foreigners irt; her own territory, and regardless what she claims concerning the necessi-«i ties of finding space outside Japan for, increasing her population. The brief adds that the gentlemen’s agreement is inefficient.—Aus.-NJZ. Cable Assn.
