ECLIPSE OF THE MOON.

REVEALS 12 MILES SWERVE

By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Oct. 21

The Daily Mail states that the eclipse of the moon has proved the planet to be slightly out of its proper course, and also distinctly ahead of time. Dr. Crommelin says that, reckoning a second of arc as a mile, the moon has swerved twelve miles. Its erratic behaviour began thirty years ago. Inknown influences are acting; he suspects ingravitation, or it is possible some magnetic force.

The Mail adds: “This falsifies the tables by which positions in the Nautical Almanac are calculated for the purposes of navigation. The 1923 edition will have to be revised.”
