THE HOLIDAY.

TO-DAY’S FIXTURES. The Labor Day holiday in Taranaki will be taken up with a number of outdoor fixtures. Races at Waverley should attract a large number of people from various parts of the province. In New Plymouth sports meetings are to be held at Western Park and at Kawaroa Park. The former gathering is the annual meeting held by the Taranaki Workers’ Council and the various eventa have filled well. At Kawaroa the competitions are for Boy Scouts, and these promise to provide some interesting tussles. On the New Plymouth golf links a match is to be played between members of the Hawera and New Plymouth clubs. At Ngaere Gardens special arrangements have been made for picnickers and a trip to thia resort should provide a pleasant outing.
