CORRESPONDENCE.
EYUMO-ELECTRtC POWER. Sir, —Being a constant reader of your paper, I have not failed to notice the search New Plymouth people are making for water power. I have watched carefully to see if someone would suggest turning to some tree the water power available and already harnessed waiting for work at the Mt. Egmont quarries. I noticed in your columns the otter day that this quarry was to be closed down. I visited the quarries only once, but I noticed that huge water-pipes conveyed the power to the crushing plant. Why could not this water be made to supply electricity. Here is a dam made, pipes in position, power house erected, ill short, everything except the machinery ' and transmission lines. I do not claim to be an engineer in any shape or fon/u, but 1 thought I would draw this source of supply to the notice of some of your experts, in the hopefr that the Government won’t be allowed to pull al) down that they have put up. If this could be used it would be a little return for the £75,080 that lias been uselessly spent. Thanking you for your space.—l am, etc., ECONOMY. Huiroa, October 18.
