INGLEWOOD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Oct. 19. The committee of the Borough Council entrusted with preparations for the reception and entertainment of the Vice-Regal party at Inglewood on the 29th instant is sparing no pains to ensure a proper condition of readiness for the great day. Naturally the want qf an absolutely reliable weather prophet, able to foretell the climatic conditions allotted to Taranaki for the day, makes the work of the committee doubly difficult. To secure success a kind of duplicate programme is needed—one for fine weather and another for bad weather, though it is hoped—and, by the optimists of the district, confidently—that our old friend, Jupiter Pluvius, if he keeps on as he has been doing lately, will have pretty well exhausted the supply of dull and rainy weather before the end of next week, and give us a chance to .welcome Lord Jellicoe with’ a sample of the best weather known in New Zealand. The full details of arrangements are not vet available.
