FINANCING THE WHEAT POOL. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Sydney, Oct. 17. It is anticipated that the State Cabinet may approach London to finance the wheat pool up to 3s per bushel. THE QUEENSLAND LOAN. Adelaide, Oct. 17. Mr. Denison Miller, in an address to the Chamber of Commerce, explained that the Commonwealth Bank had raised the Queensland loan in New York at a cost of more than if it had been raised in London. The method of payment was such that the principal would be paid when the loan fell THE 48-HOUR WEEK. Sydney, Oct. 17. Mr. Hughes, at the dinner of the Chamber of Manufacturers, condemned the shorter working week, urging greater production. He said it was not unreasonable to expect every Australian, so happily preserved from the European conflagration, to work 48 hours per week until the war arrears had been cleared.
