Following upon the successful aerial exploration of the Sahara, a proposal is on foot to link up Southern Algeria with the Niger across the desert by means of caterpillar-wheeled motor-cars, which it is believed will be able to cover the 1860 miles in a fortnight. Petrol tanks have been specially constructed to prevent evaporation, and the cars have been si'.bjected to the severest tests, including climbing hotel stairs with five passengers, turning at the top and coming down. A film company engaged in depicting the life of Lord Kitchener, states that it has obtained a circumstantial account of his betrayal from an ex-official formerly associated with him. An attractive woman, named Becker, frequented West End restaurants and overheard officers mention his impending departure for Russia, and she communicated with Germany. Becker was subsequently detained in Holloway Prison, but no evidence against her could be found. She now lives in Berlin. UTILISING A GERMAN STATUE. Paris, Oct. 16. A bronze statue of the Emperor Frederick, which was overthrown „ when the French troops entered Metz in 1918, has been/melted and the material utilised for a statue of the famous Nationalist, Paul Deroulede, which was unveiled to-day.
