FOOTBALL.
THE FRENCH TOUR. At a meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union at Wellington on Thursday evening, a letter from the secretary of the Federation Francaise de Rugby; Paris (Mr. C. E. Rutherford), to the secretary of the Australian and New Zealand Combined Rugby Unions (Mr. A. K. B. 1-aimer, Sydney) was laid on the table. The committee, it said, immediately accepted the invitation to visit Australia and New Zealand The French authorities asked for full particulars of the number and date of matches. South Africa (Natal Union), California, Toronto and Montreal (Canada) also wished to play unatehes against the Frenchmen, but, before replying to them, the French committee wished to kn6w if this were practicable, as they considered they would require to take extra men for the tour. The letter aiso asked what, number of French players and officials it was recommended should be taken. The following statement was handed to the “A letter was forwarded to the Federation Francaise. setting out the French tour would be undertaken, an invitation having already been extended and accepted for the season 1922.
