ARBITRATION COURT.
MR. McCULLOUGH’S POSITION. By Telegraph.—Press AssoJaHon. Christchurch, Oct. 15. Mr. J. A. McCullough has issued a circular letter’ to unions defining his position as regards a seat on the Arbitration Bench. The letter states that he has not gone back on his determination nor to sit again with a present member of the Court. He proposes to return to the position if possible until the Christmas vacation, or such earlier date as may be arranged. This would enable a deputy-membei’ to sit and the Court to function, and to allow a candidate to be recommended for election during vacation. He considers it neither honorable nor desirable for him to retain the position for any longer period than would enable the trade unions to nominate a successor with whatever unanimity may be possible.
