A principle laid down by Mr. Justice Salmond at the Supreme Court in. connection with the granting of divorce! under section 4 of the Amended Acl aroused particular interest a few dayi ago. His Honor, in his judgment ii regard to a petition for the dissolution of a marriage under the section, helc that the allowance of £l2O which was' proposed for women was inadequate, and therefore he deferred the granting of a decree until an arrangement had been made between the parties. Counsel on Saturday announced that such an arrangement had been made, and His Honor granted a decree nisi upon the usual terms, making a stipulation that maintenance should be not only for the joint lives of the parties, but that after the death of the husband provision should be made for respondent.
