SCENES AT THE PRISONS. Bj- Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Oct. 12. The Poplar councillors filed an affidavit before the King’s Bench, disclaiming any wish to treat the Court with disrespect, also that they were anxious to attend a conference to consider the financial difficulties of the situation, and will spare no efi'orts to make the conference a success. The Chief Justice released them, expressing the hope that they would not disregard their statutory duties. Received Oct. 13, 5.5 p.m. London, Oct. 12. The Poplar councillors, who have been released, assert that they had given no promise to levy a rate. Directly the women were released from Holloway gaol they motored to Brixton prison to greet the prisoners. As the women reached the prison they raised “cooees.” which were answered from inside. Then the men councillors appeared singing “The Red Flag.’’ —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
