NEW PARTY SOUGHT. LORD R. CECIL'S MOVE. LIBERAL AS LEADER. By Telegraph.—Press Asjn —Copyright. London, Oct. 12. ■Lord Robert Cecil, in a letter to the Press, supports Viscount Grey’s criticism of the Government. He says: “We want an administration with a clear definite programme to pursue its even way undisturbed by passing gusts of popular excitement. He suggests that Viscount Grey is the man to lead such an administration. Lord Robert Cecil is prepared to cooperate with him, and urges all others who think similarly to join in an effort to restore Britain to an administration which will give security and command confidence. Received Oct. 13, 5.5 p.m. London, Oct. 12. Lord Robert Cecil also sent a letter to his constituents covering the same ground aa the letter to the Press. He says: “Viscount Grey’s speech at Berwick on Monday deserves to be carefully weighed. No one can doubt that his criticism of the Government is well founded. It is not true that there is no alternative to the present Government. I cannot think of any Government that can be worse. What is wanted is high character, sober judgment, and freedom from party prejudice. I am prepared to co-operate with Viacount Grey, despite the fact that he is a Lib-eral.”—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
