IRISH PEACE.
LONDON CONFERENCE. DISCUSSES THE TRUCE. NO DEFINITE PROGRESS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn —Copyright. Received Oct. I<3, 8.5 p.m. London, Oct. 12. A sub-committee of the Irish peace conference discussed strengthening the truce. The British representatives pointed out that there were many ways in which the truce was being evaded, including the commandeering of Government property and the training of Sinn Fein forces. The Irish delegates met the allegations with counter charges, and urged that the whole matter was bound up with the question of internees, who number more than 3250. They said the release of prisoners would be a great factor in easing the situation. The British delegates replied that such release would have a prejudicial effect in the event of the conference failing. As a result of the conference the Government made it plain that they will not release internees.—Aus.-N.Z Cable Assn.
