Mrs. Catherine Robinson, probably the oldest settler in Otaki, died on Tuesday night, aged 82. The Christchurch Presbytery has nominated the Rev. W. J. (Jorntie for the position o-f moderator of the Presbyterian General Assembly. A telegram from Dunedin announces the death of Mr. Walter John Meek, whio established in New Zealand in 1885 the well-known ink manufacturing business which bears his name. A Christchurch telegram eaya that Mr. J. A. Redpath, a well-knoWrt citizen, aged 76, was knocked down by a, tram car yesterday morning and seriously injured on the head. His condition •is critical. Reference to the death of the Ho A. Thomas Kelly was made at yesterday's meeting of the Taranaki Education Board, the chairman (Mr. P. J. H. White) stating that the late Mr. Kelly had been a member of the board for some years. A resolution was passed placing on record the board’s high appreciation of the late Mr. Kelly’s public services to the Dominion, and to the Taranaki district in particular, not the least of which were his eight years’ term on the board.
