The earlier stages of play were unexciting and were marked by many mistakes. England was generally better in midfield and passing. The last spell was bright and exciting, but the visitors’ best efforts failed to break the home defence. At half-time the score was: England 3, Australasia 2. The final score was: England, a try and a goal; Australasia, two goals.
