NEW BASIC WAGE.
NOT REGARDED SERIOUSLY THE VIEW OF UNIONISTS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyrigtt. Received Oct. 11, 7.25 p.m. Sydney, Oct. 11. The new basic wages declaration is not regarded very seriously in unionist circles. The opinion is expressed that it is an attempt by a few employers to reduce wages. It is thought most of them will not consider it worth while to apply to the Arbitration Court for a reduction of such a small amount as 3s weekly. However, action on the part of employers generally, and what steps will be taken in regard to civil service and railway employees in the matter, are awaited with considerable interest.—-Aus.-N.Z.
