BOWLING.
OPUNAKE CLUB. The official opening of the Opunake bowling green took place on Saturday last. There was a large attendance, including visiting bowlers from the following clubs: Eltham, Park (Hawera), Manaia, Auroa, Pihama, New Plymouth, and Rahotu. Mr. Hammond (president), extended a cordial welcome to the visiters. He called upon Mrs. Hammond to formally open the green, by throwing the first jack. The usual contest. President v. Vice-Presi-sent, was then commenced, and resulted in a keen contest, the former winning by 88 points to 87. -
