SAVES CHILDREN FROM FIRE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Oct. 7; The wife of J. Lane, railway contractor, during her husband’s absence from his home at Huarau, discovered the house on fire at 9 o’clock on Wednesday night. Owing to a heavy storm help was not available. Mrs. Lane rescued her eight children and saved a few household effects. The neighbours are giving temporary accommodation to the family.
