UNEMPLOYMENT PROBLEM.
a National question. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin. Oct. 7. The Otago Trades Council, while willing to ask the unions to give to the relief works, expresses the opinion that the question of unemployment is a national one, and urges the Government to take immediate steps to deal with it by organising industry in such a way as to provide reproductive works for all worker-, failing which the Government should levy taxation on similar lines to that in England for the purpose of providing sustenance for persons unable to obtain employment.
