BOXING.

' NEW PLYMOUTH TOURNAMENT. Patrons of the boxing art are manifesting a great deal of interest in the Taranaki Association’s tournament, which takes place in the Coronation Hall a fortnight hence. The chief bout is between the professionals Heeney (of Gisborne) and Cadman (of Auckland) for the middle-weight championship of New Zealand and a purse of 200sovs. The association is also staging five special amateur bouts, the competitors representing the best of their class in Taranaki, and the preliminaries are expected to provide some good boxing. The principals in the professional contest are expected to arrive in New Plymouth about a week before the tournament.
