THE LATE COLONEL MALONE.
MEMORIAL AT STRATFORD. . (To the Editor.) Sir, —In July last, through the medium of your columns, we drew the attention of ex-members of the Wellington Regiment, N.Z.E.F. (and the general public) to the fact that the regiment had voted £lOO towards the cost of a memorial to be erected in Stratford to the memory of our late esteemed commander, Lieut.-Colonet W. G. Malone, who was killed in action, and invited supplementary contributions to enable the project to be carried out. Numerous returned soldiers and several citizens in sympathy with our object have contributed, and we now wish, by your courtesy, to publicly state that we have closed the fund, and to invite any further prospective subscribers to remit their contributions to ene of the undersigned prior to October 20 next. It is then intended to immediately proceed with the design and erection of a memorial of a suitable type, according to the funds available.— We are, etc., E. P. COX. Hawera. CLAUDE H. WESTON, New Plymouth. MURRAY URQUHART, Toko. R. WOOD, Stratford. S. MACALISTER, Stratford.
