LONG FLIGHT.

AUCKLAND TO WELLINGTON. JOURNEY OF FIVE HOURS. NEW RECORD ESTABLISHED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The first Auckland to Wellington flight was accomplished to-day, when Mr. Leo Walsh (managing director of the New’ Zealand Flying School, Auckland), Mr. R. Johnson (works manager), and Mr. G. Bolr (pilot), landed safely on the harbor here. Great interest was taken in the flight. As the machine came over the mountains and flew gracefully to the harbor cheers were given, and the visitors were congratulated on the success attending their journey. The machine is a supermarine flying boat of 230 horse-power. The machine left Auckland at 7.2 a m. to-day, landed at Kawhia at 8.15 for fuel, left Kawhia at 8.45, arrived at Wanganui at 11.15, left Wanganui at 1.45 p.m., and arrived at Wellington at 3.8 p.m. The total distance of 400 miles was covered in 5 hours 6 minutes —uie longest distance ever flown in New’ Zealand. PASSES NEW PLYMOUTH. The flying boat passed New Plymouth at about 10 o’clock yesterday morning. The machine, which was flying at a considerable height, was easily picked up, and the noise of its engine attracted people outside to view the unusual visitor. The machine, which was following the coast-line, was soon lost to view. ,
