Orders for papers nfay also ba left with. them. « BLASTING ACCIDENT. Oct. 3. Two men, named Joseph Inrod and Frank Jones, were injured by an explosion at Mount Egm on t quarry this morning. They were engaged in boring when the explosion occurred, and, according to one. statement, struck an old charge which had not exploded. Both were injured in the eyes, one, it is thought, rather seriously. They were brought to the Stratford Hospital, arriving here by special train at about 9.30 a.m. Inquiry at the hospital this evening elicited the report that both are progressing” satisfactorily. GENERAL. Mr. R. Masters, M.P., with his wife and family, left yesterday by car for Wellington. Mr. J. W. McMillan, Mayor of Stratford, left this morning by mail train for Wellington, where he will represent Stratford at the Municipal Conference. About £175 was taken at the war trophies exhibition, which was held in the Stratford Town Hall last week. Accounts have not yet come to hand, but it is estimated that the expenditure in connection with the exhibition will amount to approximately £l'lo, which will leave over £6O to be devoted to patriotic purposes. There is to be a big sale of* household furniture and effects next Thursday, when Mr. T. I. Lamason will sell by auction the whole of the furniture of Melrose House, Juliet Street. The sale will be commenced at 1.30 p.m. and is one of the biggest to be held here for a long time, the contents of 14 rooms going under the hammer. The large number of satisfied users of the Corona Portable Typewriter is the best advertisement the machine could have. It is ideal for secretaries, ministers and all business men. A special discount of ten per cent, off all machines is offered this month at Wilson Bros., Printers and Stationers, Stratford.
