CLEMENCEAU HONORED.
A CHARACTERISTIC SPEECH. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyrlgl t. Paris, Oct. 1M. Clemenceau, speaking at the unveiling of a statue of himself at St. Hermine, in Vendome, said: “We made Germany bow the knee at "Versailles. We had her signature to innumerable engagements, and with what result? The war criminals are not being tried by us; instead they are being carried off m triumph at Leipsig. Yesterday we were conquerors; I hope the time will not come when we shall have to ask whether we are still victors.” M. Clemenceau added that the Washington Conference might find it was an appropriate occasion to redress the mistakes made in carrying out the terms of the treaty.
