OPENING OF THE SEASON. > By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Equinoctial gales on Saturday marred the opening of the aquatic season by the Governor-General, and rowing events were abandoned. His Excellency formally declared the season open. The only event was a whaleboat race, in which Petone were defeated by Wellington.
