SHEARERS AND SHED HANDS.

DEMAND FOR LAST YEAR’S RATES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hastings, October 1. A special meeting of shearers and shed hands, called by Messrs F. Hansen and R. Tutaki, organisers of the New Zealand Workers’ Union, was held here this afternoon, fifty-eight Pakeha and Maori shearers and shed hands being present. The Arbitration Court’s award was discussed, and the following resolution carried unanimously:—“That this meeting of shearers and shed hands stands bv the decision of the executive of the N.Z. Workers’ Union in rejecting the Arbitration Court’s award, and demands last year’s rates.”
