TARANAKI LAND BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The usual monthly meeting * of the Taranaki Land Board was held on Wednesday and Thursday last. Present: — Messrs. 11. J. Lowe (chairman), C. J. I Ryan, f J. W. H. Martin and S. Blake. The application of P. L. Randell for section 2, block IV., Tainui, was approved, and that of C. V. Shaw for section 35., Katikara Settlement, was refused. The following transfers were approved:—Allot. 6, pt. P., New Plymouth, Florence Shaw to C. H. Wyatt; allot. 7, pt. P., New Plymouth, Florence Shaw to W. T. Taylor; section 8, block IX., Kaupokonui, C. W. Cutten to F. M. Bickford. The following transfers were recommended for the Minister’s approval:—Pt. section 22, block XII.. Mapara, W. A. Coombridge to J. Pattillo; Sub. 1, pt. section 72, block IV., Pouatu, J. B. McCartie to O. R. and J. B. McCartie, section 1, block IV., Piopiotea West, A. C. Allen to S. Fileul (subject to ranger’s report). The following transfers were refused: —Section 7, block 11., Tangitu, D. H Morey to B. M. Gernhoefer; section 3, block 111., Waro, H. 11. Meyer to B. L. McLarin. The surrender of section 17, block VI., Aria, was agreed to, the land to be added to the State Forest area. The surrender of section 13, block VIII., Omona (S. H. James),’ was accepted; land to be re-offered. The application by T: Carrington to exchange his tenure of section 35., Araheke, to special tenure lease was recommended. Resolved to accept surrender of, section 45., Huia Settlement, held by Peter Brennan; the request for a refund of the deposit was refused. The report of the valuer on renewal of lease of section 2028., New Plymouth, was adjourned for a definition of the boundary.
The application of W. B. Card to obtain the freehold of section 3, block 1., Egrnont, was approved. Thirty-seven applications under the Discharged Soldiers’ Settlement Acts were dealt with as follows: —Eleven applications for building grants were recommended, three refused and one deferred; seven applications for stock were recommended, one refused and three deferred. An application for an additional building grant was recommended and four refused. One application for a farm was recommended, two refused, and two deferred. One application for a subdivision and transfer’ was refused.
