INDIAN UNREST.
TROOPS ENCOUNTER REBELS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Delhi, Sept. 29. In a skirmish at Nilambur, Malappuram and Manerji the troops inflicted heavy losses on the Moplahs and captured large quantities of arms. The rebel moral is weakening owing to internal dissension over the loot. The general defence of the .prisoner? who are undergoing trial in connection with the outbreak is that they were misled by Khalifat and non-co-operation agitators. Mahomed Ali refused, as a non-co-operator. to recognise the proceedings of the court. He denied knowledge of the seditious leaflets, but hoped their circulation would increase and generally took a defiant attitude.
