Melbourne, Sept. 29. Lord Northcliff e had an interview with Mr, W. M. Hughes. He paid a .tribute to the people of New Zealand and Australia, saying: “They are natural, genuine, independent, non-imita-tive and sentimental.” He was particularly impressed by the solicitude for retamed soldiers at the Melbourne Show and Randwick races. MUNICIPAL SUFFRAGE. Sydney, Sept. 29. In the Assembly a Bill was introduced granting adult suffrage for all municipalities except Sydney, for which it is understood special legislation is contemplated. STRIKE IN IRELAND. London, Sept. 28. The Dublin correspondent of the Daily Express states that a strike on the Great Southern and Western Railway caused a hold-up of English mails and passengers, many of whom are stranded in Dublin.
