REMITS AT CONFERENCE. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. By Telegraph —Press Asssdatlon. Wellington, Last Night. The conference of the Counties’ Association resumed to-day, Mr. Jull (Wai* pawa) presiding. The conference decided to urge the Government to increase the proposed subsidy of hospital boards in regard to local contributions from contributing authorities to an amount in the region of 30s 9d in the £. The following remits were dealt with: “That any person on the defaulters’ list be disqualified from nominating a candidate for election as a councillor, and that such persons be incapable of being elected or being a councillor.”— Carried by 30 votes to 29. “In all eases where, a local authority institutes proceedings in respect to breaches of the Impounding Act, all fines imposed be paid to the local authority; that the mileage fee for impounded cattle I ■ one shilling per head per mile or fraction of a mile, irrespective of number.’’—‘Received. “That the fee payable to an interested local authority should accompany all transfers of properties, and that no transfers be given effect to until all rates owing on a property are paid.” An amendment to the remit was carried to the effect that three months be allowed in which general rates should be paid. “That the Government be asked to introduce legislation to provide that all banks carrying on business in the Dominion should pay interest on the daily balance of local bodies’ current accounts.” —Carried. Office-bearers were elected as follows: President. Mr. A. E. Jull (Waipawa); vice-presidents. Mr. J. D. Bruce (Akaroa); executive, Messrs. J. P. Bailey (Waikato), M. Bethell (Amuri), T. Mason Chambers (Hawke’s Bay), J. bConnett (Taranaki), F. R- Flatman (Geraldine). J. B. Gow (Opotiki), G. M. Hall (Heathcote), 3. P. Lethbridge (Rangitikei), W. H. Mclntyre (Buller), N.
