The bad exchange position checked Continental demand. Fine mutton brought 58s per cwt., medium 518; fine beef 595, medium 50s; good mixed 51s. The rabbit-skin sales opened with keen demand from both hatters and furriers, all sorts Ming in request, prices averaging fully 15 per cent, above July rates. THE CEYLON LOAN. London, September 29. The Ceylon loan of three millions, bearing G per cent, interest and issued at 97, has been underwritten. SOUTH AFRICAN LOAN. London, Sept. 27. The South African loan has been oversubscribed. PRICE OF SILVER. London, Sept. 27. Silver Is quoted at 43 3-8 d per ounce.
