BACON INDUSTRY.
THE INGLEWOOD COMPANY. The twenty-second annual report and balance-sheet of the Inglewood Cooperative Bacon Curing Co.. Ltd., for the year ended August 31, 1921, states: — “It is satisfactory to be ’able to again record an increase in the number of pigs received. During the months of January, February, March and April the capacity of the factory was tes'ted to .the full. In anticipation of a still greater number of pigs bein<* received during the ensuing season arrangements have been made whereby it will be possible to properly deal with such increase without undue congestion. The price paid for pigs during the year has been quite satisfactory, and should be encouraging to shareholders to continue their loyal support to the company. If worked on proper lines the breeding and rearing of pigs can be made a highly profitable part of the dairy farmer’s business. During the year the company has paid for pigs the sum of £20.520 10s; and further payments to shareholders, absorbing £4720 Ils sd, have been authorised to be paid, making the lowest price paid for baconers during the year 7Jd per lb, and for porkers 7d per lb. In addition a dividend of £5 per cent, on share capital has been authorised.”
