Mr. Donald MacKinnon (Victoria), gave a dinner to the Australian cricketers and a small number of visitors, who included Sir Arthur Stanley. Apologies were received from Messrs. Hobbs, Warner and Toone. Mr. MacKinnon proposed the toast of the team and alluded to England’s sacrifices in the war. which had affected her cricket, a fact which Australians recognised. Armstrong paid a generous tribute to the English teams. The Australians had pulled together in grand style. He never asked or ordered anything that was not willingly responded to. I Sir P. Mcßride, Agent-General for j Victoria, proposing the host, eulogised i both teams. ’’ Douglas said he had never enjoyed anything more than the matches against the Australians, who were clean sportsmen off and on the field. He hoped to visit Australia again and get some of his own back. THE OLD BOYS’ CLUB. The annual meeting of the Old Boys’ Cricket Club was convened for yesterday afternoon, but owing to the smalli jiess of the attendance those present adjourned without transacting any business.
