OTAKI MEETING.

FIRST DAY’S RESULTS. Otaki, Last Night. The first day of th# Otaki meeting ‘took place to-day. The totalisator handled £29,741, as against £39,547 for ‘the corresponding day last year. The results are:— MAIDEN HANDICAP.—In the Pink 1, Solstice 2, Panache 3. Also started: Jingleform, Orellana, Good Mark, Lady Foo, Manchester, Ania, Black Arrow, Edendale, Kellanice, Panther, Pleasure, Password, Rugby, Sensible. In the Pink and Solstice led the field, the former securing the verdict by a length and a half, half a length separating second .and third. Edendale was fourth. Time, Imin. 4 4-ssee. DOMINION DAY HANDICAP.—BeIoved 1, Cleasanta 2, Admiration 3. From a good start Vindictive and Cleasanta led, but Beloved challenged a hundred yards from home and won by a length and a half, a neck separating second and third. Vindictive was fourth. TATIMA HACK AND HUNTERS’ STEEPLECHASE.—Ore Ore 1, Otauru Kid 2, Malincourt 3. Also started: Te Toa, Master Boris, Pawerewere, Kura pai, Chummy, Scimitar. From the start Otauru Kid led the field, and continued till entering the bend for home, when Ore Ore challenged and won by three lengths, four lengths separating second and third. . MEMORIAL STAKES.—Printemps ?, Kilgour 2, Verbosity 3. In a splendid race Verbosity and Kilgour led the field, but Printemps challenged and beat Kilgour by a head, a length separating second and third. Dainty Step almost tied for third position. Also started: Dainty Step, Flight Commander, Esperance. Time, 2min. Msec. STEWARDS’ HACK HANDICAP.— Martial Dawn 1, Makere 2, Waimahoe 3. Also started: Lord Usk, Merinsonta, Rose of Athens, Missland, Sunbath. From the rise of the barrier Merinsonta and Martial Dawn led the field, but tne latter ran a splendid race and won by a length, Lord Usk finishing close up fti fourth position. FLYING HANDICAP.—SoI fanello I. Nursing Sister 2, Bindle 3. Also started: Sunart. Birkie, Astinome. Prince

Ferouz, Going Up, Helen Rufus. The latter horse and Prince Ferouz were left at the poet. Solfanello and. Astinome, followed by Birkie, made the running. In the straight Nursing Sister and Bindle ran into places. Solfanello won by a length, a length and a half separating second and third. Time, Imin. 15 l-ssee. WELTER HACK HANDICAP.—Notawede 1, Militaire 2, Kyoto 3. Also started: Bitters, Ija Paloma, Sea Foam, Rowan, Opiate, March On. A good race headed by Militaire and Opiate, who led into the straight, when Notawede and Kyoto closed up, and a, great race resulted in Notawede getting the verdict by a head, a neck separating second and third.
