The gross tonnage is made up as follows: Passenger vessels, 611,327 tons; cargo, 1,452,000 tons; sailing, 80,140 tons; fishing, 9749 tons. “BOOTS” TAKES REVENGE. Received Sept. 23, 7.20 p.m. London, Sept. 22. A hot-headed “boots” at the Albert Hotel, Nottingham, has been charged with doing damage amounting to £4OO. Having a grievance against the landlady, he entered the cellar, locked the door, smashed whisky bottles and let beer in the barrels run to waste. When the police burst in the doors the “boots” was ankle deep in wine and spirits.

Moderate opinion welcomes Count Lerchenfield’s election to the Premiership by the People’s Party, the Peasants and the League Democrats, who hold ninety out of 158 seats in the Diet, as it is calculated to promote a settlement between Britain and Munich.
