ONGAROTO MURDER APPEAL. By Telegraph-—Press Association.. Wellington, Sept. 22. The Court of Appeal will on Saturday hear the motion for leave to appeal against the sentence passed on Hakaria Te Kahu for murder at Ongaroto. EUR dealer bankruptcy. Wellington, Sept. 22. At the meeting of the creditors of Clifford Peel the statement showed total debts of £14391. of which £2067 was secured. The deficiency is estimated at £12,444. The largest creditor for loans was 11. W. Kersey, £71'87. Bankrupt, who was formerly a manufacturers’ agent, entered the fur trade iii 1019. He attributed his present position to a breach of contract on the part of a Sydney firm of merchants, in respect of which he had a claim for £lB,OOO damages. He hoped to raise sufficient funds to bring that action. Coupled with this came the big decline in the rabbit-skin market, causing heavy loss. He was forced to file bj' the action of one of his creditors having him arrested on a judgment summons. He hoped the claim against the Sydney firm would be brought. Bankrupt’s books are to be examined at a further meeting.
