FOOTBALL CLUB DANCE. A DISTINCT SUCCESS. Despite the very unfavorable weather prevailing on Wednesday evening there was a very large attendance at the annual ball held in the Hempton Hall under the auspices of the Okato Football Club, visitors from New Plymouth to Rahotu being present. All wore well repaid for their trip, as a most enjoyable evening was spent. The committee, headed by Mr. P. Corbett as president and Mr. R. C. Larsen, left no stone unturned in their endeavors to maintain the high standard set by previous Okato Football Club balls, and there is no question but that ttiey succeeded. They were assisted by an energetic committee of ladies, who lent invaluable assistance in various departments, particularly in the preparation and setting out of the supper fables. The hall was very tastefully decori ated, the club’s colors (black and green) | being the predominant feature, and acting | as a good setting to the lighter tints of the many beautiful dresses worn by the , dancers. Messrs. R. Andrews, C. Corbett I and E. Corbett acted as M.C.’s, and were ! most assiduous in seeing that everyone had an enjoyable time. Excellent music was provided by Boulton’s orchestra, com- [ prising Messrs. Boulton (piano), Rennie (violin), Bosworth (flute) and Voight (cornet), extras being played by Misses Honeyfield, Fraser and Collins, Mrs. Beck and Mr. Bosworth. The supper was served in the spacious supper room adjoining, the tables being beautifully decorated and laden with various dainties. The organisation was so good that there was no delay. After supper dancing was resumed, and kept up till nearly two o’clock, when all dispersed, the unanimous opinion being that the ball of 1921 must be ranked as one of the greatest successes in the history of the club.
