ELTHAM.
CYCLE RACING. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Sept. 22. The Eltham Athletic and Cycle Racing Club held its first road race to-day. The route was along the Eltham —Opuuake Road to the Mangatoki Hall, down the Lower Hastings Road, along the Skeet Road and up the Lower Hunter Road, returning by the Eltham Road to Eltham—a distance of 16 miles. Thirteen were nominated and eleven started. The result, was: J. Seabright 1 (time, 59min 50sec). C. Wheeler, 2 (58min 24sec). J. McNab 3 (62min 26sec). G. Collingwood 4 (54min 33sec). Three did not finish. G. Collingwood put up the fastest time. The following were the handicaps: G. Collingwood scr., A. Coleman linin., W. Parker limins., W. J. Sharrock 3mins., L. Coleman srains., C. Wheeler s{.mins., D. Jones fimins., C. Burrows 7mins., J. McNab and J. Seabright Bmias.
FOOTBALL. The following will represent the Eltham School in their match against the New Plymouth High School preparatory team, a? a curtaiivraiser jo the Auckland—Taranaki match on Saturday: Nairn, Kenny r , Maslin, Scown, Slater, Taylor, Cuff, Ward, Palmer, Cooper, Shaw, Clements, Forsyth, Midgeley, Clements. Emergencies: S. Cooper, L. Slater, Neilson and Attrill. The lads are in good fettle, and an interesting match is expected.
