MILITARY DEFAULTERS.
HEAVY PENALTIES IMPOSED. By Telegraph.—Press Association Auckland, Last Night. Heavy penalties for failing to attend military parades were imposed on a number of Territorials and Cadets by Mr. Poynton, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court to-day. One offender was deprived of civil rights for ten years, and several others were fined £5. About twenty youths were prosecuted. In the majority of cases attendance had been unsatisfactory for a long period, and defendants had not responded to repeated notices from the department.
